Chapter Chat Task

          Chapter chat task.

WALT: Experience what it's like to be dyslexic.

This week we have been doing chapter chat on A Fish In A Tree. Chapter chat is when you read a book as a class, and then you have different activities on that book each week. The image is a picture of the Must Do activity I did with my friend Arliah. We had to decode a paragraph which was spelt as dyslexic people see words. It gave me a whole new look at dyslexic people!
Maybe one of those schools is yours!

Waiho Bridge Collapse

Waiho bridge collapses in the rain!!! !!!!??????

WALT: write a recount.

On the 26th of march 2019 at 5:30 p.m, at waiho river, the waiho bridge was cut in half collapsed in the rain. Torrents of rain have been bucketing down, and now there is nearly nothing left of the bridge. There are is now only half of it a few pieces left. of the once long bridge.

It did not wash away quickly. One piece of the bridge was slowly leaning and not connected with the bank. It slowly leant down and then crashed in the water and just like a domino bridge game, one by one the other bits of the structure the bridge fell to the depths too.

The citizens of waiho, the police, tourists, and people with the camera. They would have been feeling pretty worried. Luckily, no one was hurt. The construction works now include raising the bridge.

In conclusion I think that it is bad that the waiho bridge has collapsed because it is nearly the school holidays and people will need to travel go on it. Hopefully the builders will work quickly. That bridge is important where holidays are concerned.

From Simple Sentences To Extended Ones

  Writing interesting sentences!

WALT: Add detail to our sentences to give detail to the reader.

Today Mrs Clark gave us an example of what detailed sentences look like in 5 simple steps.1st, we added an adjective.2nd, we told the reader when.3rd, we told them where.4th,we added how.5th,we put why.Afterwards, she gave us the choice of a simple sentence and then using the 5 steps to make it detailed. This is my sentence:

I waited for the bus.
I waited unhappily for the
bus.
This afternoon I waited unhappily for the bus.
This afternoon I waited unhappily for the bus at the bustop.
This afternoon I unhappily shivered waiting for the bus at the bustop.
This afternoon I unhappily shivered waiting for the bus at the bustop because there was a breakdown.

That is what I wrote.
How detailed a sentence can you make?

Poetry Anthology

                   Poetry Anthology

Welcome to my poetry anthology blog post!!
We have been learning to write different forms of poetry this term, and we put all finished poems in this slide!
My favourite one is probably the Acrostic poem because it was the easiest to write about because it was about me, and I hopefully know a lot about me!!
The hardest poem was the rap, because I don't know a lot about rhyming and I don't write songs a lot.
How many types of poems do you know?

Westport Camp 2019

                  Westport Camp!!

This years camp was at Westport! It was at Westport because we are looking at mining this term, and Westport is based a lot on mining.
The slide above explains heaps, but an other favourite thing of mine was awards night, when everyone got chocolate for real or made-up things. I was little miss Kindness, and Nova was little miss Nosy-Parker, well Victoria was little miss Onezie!
My favourite part out of all of them was probably Denniston or awards night.
I think you should go to Westport. There is a lot of interesting stuff there!

The Brunner Mine Site

         WALT:Ask a question.

      How many people died??

The answer to this question is 65 men and boys were killed in the brunner mine disaster. If you want more info, check out the book The Mines Afire.Mrs Clark is reading us this book in class, and we have been doing many activities in class based on it,like this post.If you don't know what the brunner mine disaster is,a quick explanation is that there was a gas explosion in the Brunner mine at 9:30 on march 26,1896.Some fun facts are on the drawing up top.
We are reading this book because on camp,we will be going to Westport to look at the mines. We will probably be doing a blog post on that,so keep an eye out!!
